I didn’t read the book, and my grand-daughter didn’t seem interested. What else can I say?

I know this book is a classic and most of my friends that have read it love it. I, on the other hand, was very bored and wanted to stop reading. It did pick up toward the end, which is why I ended up rating it a three. I saw one of the movie versions a few years ago and loved it. I was looking very forward to the book, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations.

I loved this book as a child and thought my 13 year old would enjoy it. It was a change of pace from the type of book she normally reads, but she stuck with it and ended up liking it very much.

I hadn’t read this book since i was a little girl sitting on my grandmother’s lap, but i was glad to find it held up to my recollections! it’s a beautiful story illustrating the resillience of children and the value of nurturing love. A fantastic read for anyone, whether they be 8 or 80.
