Serengheti Express at Busch Gardens Africa, Nairobi to Congo

This is part 1 of 2 videos of the Serengeti Express at Busch Gardens Africa in Tampa, FL. This particular train is one of the originals for this ride when it opened in the 60′s. This one was from the Crown Metal Products Co and uses a 4-4-0 wheel arrangement which means it has four guide wheels, four drive wheels, and no trailing wheels. It runs on a 36 inch guage track which means the rails (tracks) are 36 inches apart. On this leg of the journey, you’ll pass by the Edge of Africa, A exibit featuring Lions, Hippos, Hyenas and other animals that call the African Plains home. YOu’ll see the Crown Colony House where you can get rapidly prepared foods on the first floor, or full restaraunt type service on the second floor. You will also pass by Egypt which is home to a air conditioned representation of a Pharo’s tomb called Tut’s Tomb and the worlds longest inverted steel roller coaster called Montu. This ride has been in the top ten for world’s best steel roller coasters since it opened in the min 90′s. You’ll then passt through the Serengeti Plains where you will see Giraffs, Grants Zebras, Ostriches, and many more before you pass through a tunnel, past the world’s last remaining Vonroll type 101 with a 90 degree bend in the middle. That ride is the classic Skyride, which almost every amusement/theme park had until the late 80′s/early 90′s.
