@UPGardenr The rose is “Zephirine Drouhin”, a climbing Bourbon rose. It is a thornless rose, a good thing for seating areas and children’s play spaces, and can take some shade, great for city gardens. I live in zone 6A and it has done well for many years, with no problems. This rose also has a beautiful scent, and continues to bloom into the fall.
What kind of rose is on the trellis? Thanks
Your garden is stunning! I love your narration as well! Very soothing!
Your garden is magnificent! Beautiful job.
@committee57 Thankyou for your reply, I look forward to hearing more of your videos! :-)
@katemcn Thanks for the kind words. This was one of the first videos that I did a voice over on, so the music is set a little high. I was very unsure how my voice would sound to other people. I am a little better on more recent videos. Good Luck with your garden!
@katemcn I make the videos and run the blogs and You Tube pages for:
New London Beautification Committee
Diary of an Urban Gardener (D.U.G.) a blog about my own home gardens.
All the videos I have made are at these sites under the name asamul.
Wow, lovely job! I am in Scotland UK, i am trying to establish my garden and put my own wee stamp on it, I could listen to your voice and accent all day, you have the most beautifilist voice i think the background music spoils it a wee bit! i love what you have done, and hope to see more of your videos. thankyou! :-)
@committee57 I’m going to keep trying. I hope one day I’ll end up with something that looks just as brilliant and stylish as Your garden.
@committee57 thank You so much for the answer.
@ksionc100 A 3 y. o. garden is still very young. They say that it takes 7 to eight years for a garden to mature, and if you are like me, adding sections as time and money allow it can take even longer. I have made 4 different gardens and before I started each one I asked myself what is the purpose of this garden, what will be its story line, such as a shade garden to relax in, a place to grow fruits and veggies etc. Once you have a story, the garden plan is much easier to make. Good Luck.
@ksionc100 I would cut the sedum in half and next season you will have two good size plants that can then be divided into about six plants that will grow to good size in one season. You can plant the 12 pieces but it will take a few years for them to grow big enough to divide. I have tossed broken pieces of sedum on the mulch pile and found new little plants rooted in a few weeks.
This video made me realise how I hate my 3 y.o. garden :) Even though I’m already familiar with most aesthetic rules and know many species of plants I still fail to put all the ideas together, draw a plan and consequently search for the suppliers.
BTW, committee57 how much can one cut a sedum while dividing it? I’ve got ‘Matrona’ with about 12 branches. Should i cut it half or maybe 12 pieces will survive as well?
@wilkiepup1 Welcome back to the garden life. Don’t forget to take some photos along the way to share with us. Maybe.. make a video.
@GuacamoleKun The older the garden gets the more I love it and it seems there is less work or at least less weeding, as the plants fill in all the empty spaces. It took us almost two years to clear all the mess out and to amend the soil. Don’t stress to much because one day a few years from now, you will walk out in your yard and be amazed at how beautiful it is. You won’t even remember the days when you almost gave up.
I love your voice and videography.
Lovely and inspiring! I’m ready to go outside and tackle my yard! Thanks for sharing!
VERY BEAUTIFUL.
You have such a beautiful garden .
Beautiful, love everything about it. Very inspiring…
WOW. Did I understand correctly, this is all in a 50×50 yard? Can I come over sit in your garden? It’s like a rest stop for Gnomes and ferries. I’m neither Gnome nor farrie, but I’d like to hear some of their stories.
That’s pretty much what my back yard looks like! (The first picture.. lol.)
Wow, now I’m excited to keep working on it. (All I did the first year was pull weeds and prepare the truly insanely messed up flower beds along the house..) I don’t know if it will ever be as impressive as yours, that looks like a lot of work.. but now I see its potential more clearly.
Your garden is fantastic.
Beautiful garden. Thanks for the inspiration. Spurs me on to bring my 16 year old garden back to life. I just retired and can’t wait to garden again!
What an amazing transformation and a glorious garden. I’m starting from scratch with a small space and your video has given me some great inspirations. Thank you!
I can see your passion for gardening in this video! Beautiful is a word that doesn’t even come close!
