@samlarsenwrites US and Europe engineers and architects are sure involved and their expertise is benefited from, however this does not mean that only US and Europe engineers built structures. engineers and architects from all over the world, from US, Europe, Arab countries, Iran, China , India and many other countries built structures too.
Ur statement is biased
There are engineering firms that are owned and maintained by Arabs in Dubai. Foreign expertise is simply benefited from.

The great structures of Dubai and the Middle East in general were designed, engineered and being maintained by engineers and architects from the US and Europe. I cannot recall an an international engineering firm from the middle east that has erected superstructures. If there is, most likely it is run by engineers and architects from US or Europe.
All in all its purpose is to capture people who could actually pay for such residence, its calling rich people not the rest of the city or country for any of that matters, it is not a design for their people it is a collectible item in their eyes, is an expression of their power and innovations to the rest of the globe, It is beauty on a flask for the price of the poor who live on its surroundings or the tainted goal of a kid to grow up and make money to actually live in on of this conformities.
It is a great vision, an amazing idea of growing city, if they only went green on the whole scale of this city it would be something grand (for how they obtain the resource), all in all it is debt, when the motor industry slowly shift into efficiency designs up to 2022 or so, the demands of that resource that make this happen will go into a stall and the place will fall into a global monopoly over real estates because there will be no money to pay for the payment plan, it is a fools paradise.
the arab world, sometimes very beautiful, sometimes very incomprehensive to western and latin worlds, i have a fantasy whit arab world, but as any fantasy, is just a dream, reality shatters all dreams…………

this is a great vision of a great ruler, we have been living and working in this city for last ten years, only here impossible becomes possible and done, being indian we know democratic rules and conundrums
keep making things then one day there will be war for that country. whoever gets it will be richest or it will be distroyed. yesterday was poor, today is rich and tomorrow all will be gone again. what have you done for poor? no one will buy gas anymore because vehicles are getting efficient and looking for alternatives. how are you going to mainten everyday cost?

lol, omg, i just wish they make this. A garden in the desert. To maintain this, they will literally have to spends millions everyday. And in some thing goes wrong with the financing for just one month, BOOM.. gone.
Not to mention, they will run huge plants to desalinate seawater, using up oil and polluting the air and sea at the same time.
